About the La Familia Growers Market
Established in 2015 as the Gateway Growers Market by the South Valley MainStreet and Bernalillo County. In an agreement with Bernalillo County, the community gained full control and leadership renaming the Gateway Growers Market to the La Familia Growers Market paying homage to a grocery store that use to be in the same location called the La Familia Grocery Store.
The La Familia Growers Market is a community-based farmers market in the South Valley along the Rio Grande located at the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park. Our vision is to highlight the culture, traditions, and history of the South Valley. We aspire to provide a mercado like experience from locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, food trucks, music, a children’s playground, open space, arts-n-crafts, and other products with the goal of creating a space for community building and gathering in the South Valley while supporting the local bricks and mortar small businesses in the area.
In late summer and early fall the La Familia Growers Market conducts hands-on workshops on traditional and cultural ways of living in the area, handed down from generation to generation, the passing and sharing of knowledge.
